How to add a booking button to a Google Business Profile
Add a direct link to a booking page or connect a supported booking provider. For a direct link, Google Search uses Booking; Google Maps uses Edit profile and the relevant transaction type. Your profile must be verified and eligible for the link. A provider integration is a separate setup, and neither route guarantees the same button or checkout on every profile.
Start with the destination. Where should a customer choose an appointment, and who keeps that information current? If you already have a working booking page, a direct link may be sufficient. If you want a supported integration with Google, check your provider's options. Do not choose software solely because a competitor's profile shows a particular button.
How to add booking to Google Business Profile
Sign in with the account authorised to manage the correct business. For your own URL, open the booking controls described above, choose Add link or Add another link, enter the address and save. Where several links are present, Set preferred link lets you choose the business-preferred destination. Follow Google's local-links instructions.
Before adding anything, open the proposed destination yourself. The location, service and booking action should be clear without asking a visitor to work out which branch they have reached. A page that merely explains your business may be useful as a website link but unsuitable as the place to book.
For example, imagine a salon has moved appointments to a new booking page while its old link still opens a general contact page. The useful correction is to replace the outdated destination after checking the new page. Adding another link without dealing with the old one can leave customers choosing between two different routes.
How many booking links can you add?
Google's help pages currently differ: the local-links instructions describe adding up to 10 links per category, while the business-link policy states a maximum of 20 per transaction type. Do not assume either number guarantees additional slots on your profile. Check existing entries and any error before adding another. More links are not inherently more useful; choose destinations customers can distinguish.
How to set up booking on Google Business Profile
For a supported integration, open Bookings, choose Get started, select the provider and finish with Done. Check the providers available for your country and the provider's terms, including possible charges. Google describes these steps in its provider-booking guidance.
The provider should fit how your business actually takes appointments. Before connecting it, establish who manages availability, how staff see new bookings and where customers receive confirmation. Do not assume that selecting a provider resolves those operational questions. If a booking requires approval, the wording customers see should make that distinction clear.
Google's guidance says providers appear within a week. Treat that as its published setup guidance, not a deadline promised by your business or consultant. If the connection has not appeared, check the setup state with the provider rather than repeatedly switching systems. Restaurant waitlists are a separate feature requiring a third-party Reserve with Google provider; they are not a general appointment tool for every business.
You can keep an appropriate phone contact alongside online booking. A person may need to ask about accessibility, suitability or an appointment that cannot be arranged through the standard page. Decide how those enquiries will be handled instead of assuming a button removes the need for them.
How to add Book online to Google Business Profile
A direct link can take customers to an external website. Reserve with Google can provide an integrated booking experience, but only in supported countries or regions and with a supported scheduling provider. Its users need a Google Account. Google's customer-booking guidance explains that route.
For supported online services, the documented flow includes choosing a date and time, sometimes a staff member, and completing the booking information. It is not a universal preview of every appointment link. The label, destination and available steps should be checked on the actual route your business provides.
This matters when a customer says the button behaves differently from another business's. Ask which step differs. Opening an external booking page is not, by itself, a failure. Reaching the wrong branch, an unavailable service or a dead page is a specific problem that the responsible person can investigate.
What Google will not accept as a booking link
The link policy requires a dedicated business/location destination where the intended action can be completed. It excludes social-media, messaging, app-store and shortened links. It also restricts duplicate URLs and domains. Google may remove non-compliant or inaccessible links; an erroneous rejection can be submitted for review.
These requirements are a reason to check the destination, not a diagnosis of every missing button. If the booking page fails to load, note the exact address and error. Ask the person responsible for the page or provider to investigate customer access and Google's verification access. Do not casually disable site security or expose private booking information to make a link work.
A business with several locations should check the branch shown on the page and the branch attached to the profile together. Imagine a clinic's booking link opens another branch's appointment list. The correct action is to correct the destination and confirm which appointments it offers, not to describe the mismatch as a harmless cosmetic issue. Use fictional or approved test details for checks; do not put patient information into a test submission.
How to change appointments on Google Business Profile
Separate three jobs: changing your own link, removing a provider's link and changing an actual appointment. Return to the booking controls to manage the link. For third-party booking links, Google documents Remove Provider. Removing a link does not itself cancel appointments already held in the provider's system.
The calendar belongs to the system managing the appointments. Services, staff, availability and booking conditions should be corrected there by someone authorised to manage them. If a customer needs a change, follow the applicable booking process rather than editing the public profile and assuming the customer has been notified.
Google's Reserve with Google instructions make modifications, cancellations and refunds subject to the business's conditions. Not every booking can be cancelled or refunded. Check the confirmation and the applicable policy before promising a customer a particular outcome.
Opening hours also deserve a separate check. General opening hours and appointment availability need not list identical times: a business may open for longer than a particular practitioner is available. What matters is that the information does not mislead someone about when and where their appointment can take place. Confirm special dates in the appropriate system instead of copying the same hours into every field.
Why the booking button might not appear
Begin with what you can observe. Are you managing the correct profile with the right account? Is the profile verified, is the feature available for this business and region, and is the link saved or awaiting review? Check the actual status before replacing a working URL. Google's edit-status guidance explains that saving and publication are different stages.
If a provider is involved, distinguish its connection from a URL you entered yourself. An unfamiliar link may have a provider or automated source; do not assume another person signed in to your account. Identify who supplies it before deciding how it should be changed.
For a visible link that fails, record where the failure occurs: opening the destination, choosing a service, finding availability or receiving confirmation. That is more useful to support than saying only that the Google button is broken. Avoid inferring the cause from a single device or a single missing control.
How to check this yourself
Start with a read-only check of the public route on a phone. Confirm the business and location, open the destination, and check that the available service and instructions match what you offer. Viewing the page is not the same as testing a completed appointment.
For an end-to-end check, arrange an authorised test with the people operating the booking system. Prefer the provider's test mode where available. Agree how any test record, notification or payment step will be handled before submission. Do not make a casual real booking and assume cancelling it will undo every consequence or charge.
Give the person handling appointments a clear question: does the system distinguish an enquiry from a confirmed booking, and can the team find the relevant record? A success message on a customer's screen and a usable record for the business are different parts of the process. If only the public page has been checked, record that limited result honestly.
What can booking performance tell you?
For a verified profile you manage, open Performance, select a period and apply it. Only applicable metrics appear. Google's Bookings metric requires bookings managed through a provider; it is not a count of every appointment generated by any link. Google also states that performance data is unavailable for custom links. Use your booking system's records for that route. See Google's metric definitions.
Do not interpret no displayed bookings as proof that the booking page is broken. Establish whether the metric covers your route, which period is selected and what the booking system records. A click is not necessarily a completed appointment, and a completed appointment is not automatically evidence of a particular change improving results.
What should you do next?
Choose one concrete task: confirm the destination, correct an outdated URL, establish the provider's connection status or arrange a controlled completion check. Keep the person responsible for the booking system involved. Changing the profile and changing the diary are related jobs, but they have different consequences.
If you need help identifying an inconsistent profile route, contact Madloba Consult about an audit. Describe which step is unclear and which system receives the booking. Agree the scope before any changes or test submissions. This article is part of the Profile guide.
Frequently asked questions
how to add booking to google business profile
Use the booking-link controls on an eligible, verified profile. In Search, open Booking; in Maps, use Edit profile and the relevant transaction type. Add your booking-page URL and save. Check the published destination rather than assuming that saving created a working appointment route.
how to set up booking on google business profile
Choose between a direct booking link and a supported provider integration. For the provider route, use Bookings, Get started, select the provider and Done. Confirm its availability and terms first; do not assume that any booking software can connect to Google.
how to change appointments on google business profile
First identify what needs changing: the profile link, the provider connection, or an appointment in the booking system. Correct each at its source. Changing a profile link does not reschedule existing customers, so handle their appointments separately.
how to add book online to google business profile
A direct link and Reserve with Google are different routes. The latter depends on a supported scheduling provider and country or region. Adding a URL does not guarantee an identical Book online button or an on-Google checkout.
What you will see after you add the link
Check the saved link and the public profile, then follow the destination. An external booking page can open outside Google. A visible link proves that a route is displayed, not that every step of the booking process works.
Why the booking button might not appear
Check access, verification, feature availability, edit status and the destination. A missing button alone does not establish the cause. Record the actual message or failing step before changing the URL or asking the provider for help.
