Ten addresses, one name, and the map treats every one of them as a stranger

Google does not rank a chain. It ranks listings, one per address, each on its own, against whoever is nearest. Your best location cannot lend its reviews to your weakest, and a listing that was never verified is not yours to fix, however good the brand is.

The work is the same as for one location, done on each of them, with what can be shared actually shared. Start with the free check on the location you worry about most.

What changes when there is more than one address

Three things. Every address needs its own listing, verified, with the same name written the same way, and one listing cannot serve two doors. Every listing is read separately, so a review that arrives at one location does nothing for the others. And two of your own locations can compete with each other for the same search, which no single-location business ever has to think about.

What does not change is the method: the same grid of points, run from each location, and the same reading of reviews every week. It is more of it, not a different kind.

What is shared across the chain, and what is not

Shared onceDone per location
Who your competitors are, and what they publishWhich three the map shows at that address
The words people search forThe listing: categories, hours, photographs, posts
Photographs, texts and news, from your own materialThe reviews, and the answers to them
The name, written one wayThe verification, and the duplicates that may exist
The plan for the monthThe grid of points, from that location

The left column is why the second location costs half of the first. The right column is why it does not cost nothing.

multi-location seo strategy

The first question is which of your locations compete with each other, and the honest answer comes from the grid, not from a map with pins. Two clinics three streets apart will show up for the same searches, and one of them will lose to the other more often than to any stranger.

That is not fixed by deleting one listing, and it is not fixed by making them identical. It is handled by giving each address what is actually different about it: the services that are only there, the doctor who only works there, the hours that differ, and the reviews that name that door. The rest of the chain stays the same on purpose.

How the grid of points works

franchise reputation management

Reviews are per location, and so is reading them. A run of bad weeks at one address is invisible in the chain’s average and obvious on that listing, which is the one the person standing outside it is reading.

So every listing is read every week, separately, and answered from the location, not from head office. What head office gets is the table: every address, what arrived, what was answered, what was reported and why.

What weekly reading of reviews is

What the monthly work is, per location

What is doneHow often
Categories, services and hours, checked on each listingEvery month
Photographs and posts, placed on each listing from shared materialEvery month
Reviews, read and answered, on each listingEvery week
Name, address and phone, checked on the directories that copied each locationEvery month
Duplicates and unverified listings, found and dealt withEvery month
The grid of points, run from each locationOnce a month, same date

The hours per location fall as the chain grows, because the first column of the table above is done once. The price table shows exactly how far.

What this costs

The second location costs half of the first, because it takes half the hours: competitors, keywords and material are shared across a chain. That is not a volume discount. It is arithmetic.

LocationsA monthPer location
11 200 €1 200 €
21 800 €900 €
32 200 €733 €
53 000 €600 €
105 000 €500 €

Postpaid, no prepayment and no minimum term. From the seventh month the price goes down by ten percent.

Three things we will not do

We will not promise you a position. Nobody can promise that honestly, and a chain has as many positions as it has doors, times as many points as the map has.

We will not run all your addresses from one listing. Google wants one listing per place where people are served, and a chain squeezed into one listing is invisible everywhere except at that one door.

We will not open a listing for an address where nobody works. That is the fastest way to get the real ones suspended along with it.

Questions

what is multi location seo

Work on the map for a business with more than one address. Each address has its own listing and is ranked on its own, so the job is the single-location job repeated per door, with the parts that can be shared, such as competitors, keywords and material, done once for the chain.

how local seo helps multi-location businesses

By making each address show up for the people nearest to it, instead of the chain showing up once, for the head office. A listing per location, verified and worked on, is what puts the right door in front of the person searching from three streets away.

multi-location seo strategy

Start by finding out which of your own locations compete with each other, using the grid of points from each address. Then give each listing what is different about that door, keep the rest of the chain deliberately the same, and read every listing’s reviews every week, separately.

multi location seo agency

One that publishes the hours per location next to the price and reports a map of points per address, not a position for the brand. Ours is 1 200 € for the first location and half of that for the second, with the table on the pricing page.

What a chain pays per location

1 200 € for the first location, 900 € each for two, 733 € each for three, 600 € for five and 500 € for ten. It falls because competitors, keywords and material are shared, and the table on the pricing page shows exactly how far.

How long before anything moves across a chain

Three weeks at the earliest for a location, and often longer. A chain does not move all at once: the addresses that were never verified or that carry a duplicate move first, because that is a fix rather than a climb, and the rest follow the same monthly work. The first map of points per location arrives inside the first month.

How to check a chain yourself

Open the map from each address, not from head office, and search for what you sell. Note which of your own locations appear, which of them appear together, and which do not appear at all. Then check each listing for verification and for a second listing with the same name: the two most common reasons an address is missing.

franchise reputation management

Reading and answering reviews per location, every week, with one table for the whole chain. The average rating of the brand hides the address that had a bad month, and the person outside that address is reading that listing, not the average.
