An unverified listing is not yours. It is just a listing with your name on it.

Google creates listings on its own, from registries and from what people submit. Until somebody proves to Google that they are the business at that address, nobody can change it, nobody can answer its reviews, and anyone who asks can try to claim it. Verification is that proof, done once, by whichever method Google offers you.

Most of the time it is a form and a few days. The rest of the time it is a postcard that never comes, a video that gets rejected, or a listing somebody else already claimed, and that is where a month disappears. Start with the free check: it says which of those you are looking at.

What verification changes, and what it does not

The listing shows on the map either way. What verification changes is who holds the keys.

After verificationBefore it
You can change the name, hours, categories and addressAnyone can suggest a change, and Google may accept it
You can answer reviews as the businessReviews arrive, and nobody answers
You can add photographs and postsPhotographs come from customers only
You can see how people found you and what they didNothing is reported to anyone
The listing can be handed to a manager, or to us, and taken backThe listing can be claimed by someone else

The last line is the one that matters. An unverified listing is open to the first person who proves an address, and Google does not check whether that person is you.

The ways Google offers, and who chooses

You do not pick the method. Google does, per listing, from what it thinks it knows about the category and the address, and it shows you only the ones it has decided to offer.

MethodWhat happensHow long, in Google’s own words
Video recordingYou film the door, the sign, the inside, and something that proves you run itDays
Live video callThe same, with a person from Google watchingDays
Phone or textA code arrives on the number on the listingMinutes
EmailA code arrives on the address on the listingMinutes
PostcardA code arrives by post to the listing addressAbout two weeks, when it arrives

Video is the one most clinics get now, and it is the one most people fail, because the sign on the door does not match the name on the listing.

Why it gets stuck

Five reasons cover almost every case we have seen. The name on the sign is not the name on the listing. The address is one Google does not treat as a business address: a mailbox, a shared office, a flat. The category is one Google looks at harder. Somebody else, often a former employee or an agency, already verified it and left. Or there are two listings for the same door, and you are trying to verify the wrong one.

None of those is fixed by requesting the postcard again. Each one is fixed by changing the thing that caused it before the next attempt, because Google counts attempts, and a listing that fails several times is looked at as a listing that might not be real.

If the listing was verified and then suspended, that is a different page

Without a postcard, and without an address

If the postcard did not come, the honest first step is to check why, not to order another: a wrong suite number, a name the post office does not know, a building with a shared letterbox. Then ask Google for a different method. It often offers video once the postcard has failed, and video is faster.

A business without a public address, one that visits customers, is verified as a service area business: the address is hidden, the area is named, and the proof is the same, video of the vehicle, the tools, and the paperwork. What does not work is inventing an address to get a pin on the map. That listing gets suspended, and the real one with it.

What we do

What is doneWhen
Every listing that exists for your address found, including the ones you did not makeBefore anything is filed
The name, address and category made to match the sign, the registry and each otherBefore the attempt
The method Google offers read, and the attempt prepared for that methodOnce
The video filmed to what Google actually checks, or the call sat through with youOnce
Duplicates merged or removed, so the verified listing is the only oneThe same week
Ownership handed to your own account, with us as a manager you can removeThe day it is verified

This is the first part of profile setup, and it is why setup takes three weeks rather than an afternoon: most of the time goes on what has to be true before the attempt.

What this costs

Verification is not sold on its own. It is inside the setup of your profile: 1 120 € for twenty-eight hours, once, which also puts the categories, services, hours, photographs and the directories that copied you in order before anyone starts running the listing.

If you only want to know where you stand, the presence and listings audit finds every listing for your address, marks which are verified and which are duplicates, and costs 420 € for three and a half hours, on its own or inside the 960 € full audit. Postpaid, no prepayment and no minimum term.

The full price list, with the hours

Three things we will not do

We will not verify an address where nobody works. A mailbox, a shared office or a flat verified as a clinic gets the listing suspended, and Google suspends the real ones in the same account with it.

We will not keep your listing in our account. It is verified into yours, and we are a manager you can remove in one click. A listing held by an agency is the most common way owners lose their own profile.

We will not buy, expedite or bypass a verification. There is no paid fast lane at Google, and anyone selling one is selling either nothing or a suspension.

Questions

do i need to verify my business with google

Yes, if you want to be the one who controls it. The listing shows on the map whether or not it is verified, but until it is, you cannot change it, answer its reviews, or stop somebody else from claiming it. Verification is done once and stays.

how to verify google business

Claim the listing in your own Google account, then prove you are the business at that address by the method Google offers you: usually a video of the door, the sign and the inside; sometimes a code by phone, email or postcard. Before you start, make the name on the listing match the name on the sign, because that is where most attempts fail.

how to verify google business without postcard

Ask Google for a different method from the listing itself; after a postcard has failed it usually offers video, and video takes days rather than weeks. Before asking, find out why the postcard did not arrive: a wrong suite, a shared letterbox, a name the post office does not know. The same problem will stop the next attempt too.

Who does the verification

You do, in your own account, and we prepare it so it passes the first time: every listing for your address found, the name and address made to match the sign and the registry, the method Google offers read, and the video filmed to what Google actually checks. It is the first part of profile setup.

What verification costs

Nothing on its own, because it is not sold on its own. It is inside the setup of your profile at 1 120 € for twenty-eight hours, once. If you only want to know where you stand, the presence and listings audit is 420 € for three and a half hours, on its own or inside the 960 € full audit.

how long does it take google to verify my business

Minutes by phone or email, days by video, and about two weeks by postcard, in Google’s own words. What takes longer is a failed attempt, because each one is looked at harder than the last. Our setup, which includes verification, takes three weeks, and most of that time goes on what has to be true before the attempt is made.

does google call you to verify your business

Only when you asked for a code by phone, and then it is an automated call reading a code you typed a request for a minute earlier. Google does not call to sell verification, does not ask for payment, and never asks a person to read a code back. A call that does any of those is not Google.

how to verify google business without address

As a service area business: the address is hidden, the area you serve is named, and the proof is a video of the vehicle, the tools and the paperwork instead of a door. What does not work is inventing an address to get a pin, because that listing is suspended, and the real one with it.
